About Wild Rose Medicine

Rooted in Tahoe,
Growing for Community

Wild Rose Medicine is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit clinic offering integrative medicine, acupuncture, and herbal care to the North Lake Tahoe community. Founded by Dr. Elena Roemer — born and raised on the West Shore — this practice was built on the belief that quality healthcare should be accessible to everyone who calls these mountains home.

Her Story

A Daughter of Tahoma

Dr. Elena Roemer grew up in Tahoma, a small town on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe. While Tahoe is often seen as a luxury destination, her upbringing reflects a different truth — one shaped by the rhythms of a working-class family living paycheck to paycheck.

She knows firsthand that many long-time locals and community members are quietly navigating the high cost of living, and that market-rate acupuncture or herbal treatments can feel out of reach. Wild Rose Medicine was created with those people in mind.

"I grew up here, and this community holds my heart. Wild Rose Medicine was created so that high-quality care can remain accessible to the people who call these mountains home."

Her Medicine

Where Science Meets Tradition

Elena is a Doctor of Chinese Medicine and licensed acupuncturist who blends clinical rigor with deep reverence for traditional healing. Her practice weaves together acupuncture, custom herbal formulations, nutritional guidance, and holistic counseling — treating the whole person rather than isolated symptoms.

She currently serves as the acupuncturist at Tahoe Forest Hospital's Cancer Center, where she supports oncology patients through treatment and recovery. This clinical experience grounds her private practice in evidence-based care while honoring the traditional plant knowledge that first drew her to medicine.

Caring for Tahoe's People, Plants, & Place

This land has always been a source of healing. Wild Rose Medicine exists to honor that connection — offering care rooted in the mountains, the seasons, and the plants that grow here.

What I Stand For

The principles that guide how I practice, teach, and show up for my community.

Accessibility

My sliding-scale model ensures that consistent, quality care remains within reach for the working families, artists, and year-round locals who make Tahoe home.

Whole-Person Care

I treat the root, not just the symptom. Every treatment plan considers the full picture — body, mind, emotional health, environment, and season.

Plant Wisdom

My apothecary is stocked with carefully sourced herbs and botanicals. I believe in the intelligence of plants and their ability to support deep, lasting healing.

Community

This clinic exists because of and for the people of North Lake Tahoe. From sliding-scale care to classes and plant walks, everything I do is in service of this community.

Seasonal Living

I practice and teach in alignment with the rhythms of the natural world — honoring the seasons as a guide for health, nourishment, and restoration.

Trust

My pricing model is built on trust. You choose what you can afford — no verification, no paperwork. I trust my community, and my community sustains me.
